Stunning book to say the least! It starts with Rory Holloway forming a bond with childhood friend Mike Tyson nearly 30 years ago. It has everything from Tyson's jail sentence, his criminal and violent behavior, and of course his rise becoming the heavyweight champion of the WORLD, and the HIGHEST PAID ATHLETE at that time. Holloway and Erin Wilson then dives deep into the legacy that saw the champ bite a man's ear in the ring, and nearly lose his freedom again! Excellent BOOK! I enjoyed this book about the most amazing boxer who seems to have always been out of control. This book is called Taming the Beast but I don't think Rory Holloway ever really tamed him...would could? I enjoyed learning about Mr. Holloway as I have met him in a few events and business meetings and really admire the way he speaks and carries himself. Such a classy man deserves much better than the career Tyson had after going to jail for rape. Tyson should have made Holloway the most famous and liked boxing managers in history but instead turned his back on him. Its a crazy story and that's why I read both Tyson and Holloway books to fully understand, and I still blame Tyson 1,000% like --Carmela Goodreads Reviews
About the Author
RORY HOLLOWAY’s name became inextricably linked to Mike Tyson, from his relationship with the former champion dating back to when both were teenagers in upstate New York. Rory is one of Mike’s oldest friends and one-time manager of the former Heavyweight Champion. In 1983, Mr. Holloway became one of the original members of Team Tyson and helped guide Mike to becoming the youngest Heavyweight Champion in boxing history, at the age of 19 years old. In 1995, Rory became the official manager of Mike Tyson, in which he participated in the negotiations for the largest [individual] sports contract in history, totaling $375 million. Rory now resides in Connecticut with his wife of 27 years.
